Nike to release Lance Armstrong clothing collection
Beaverton, Ore.-based Nike, Inc, the world's largest maker of athletic shoes and clothing, is teaming up with six time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong in producing a new clothing collection.
Called The 10/2 Lance Armstrong collection, Nike will offer a variety of high performance technical cycling wear and lifestyle products. And, just like the yellow Nike/Armstrong Livestrong wristbands, proceeds from the sales will go to the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
Why 10/2 as a name? For Lance Armstrong, October 2 (10/2) was a life-altering day.
October 2, 1996, The day it all changed. The day I started never to take anything for granted, Armstrong said in a Nike news release. It was the day I was diagnosed with cancer.
Nike said the new clothing collection is inspired by Armstrongs celebration of life.
The collection
Performance jerseys: Long sleeve, short sleeve and sleeveless cycling jerseys featuring Nikes Dri-FIT moisture resistant material. The jerseys also have mesh inserts at the arms and back of neck and a zipper to allow for ventilation.
Performance shorts: Bibbed cycling shorts made of synthetic chamois and synthetic 190-gram nylon spandex.
Windfront vest: 100% microfiber polyester vest that is water-resistant and windproof. It features an extra high collar to afford greater wind protection and has an open-mesh back for ventilation.
