The Tour de Georgia cycling stage race will feature many of the USA's top racers, but as usual in the sport, most of the attention will be focused on Lance Armstrong.
The winner of six Tour de France titles and last year's Georgia race, Armstrong already has overshadowed the event by telling the media they should not miss his Monday afternoon prerace news conference in Augusta.
With his cycling career winding down, most of the speculation about his announcement has fallen into two distinct categories: Armstrong's plans for the next two years or a revelation about his high-profile relationship with rocker Sheryl Crow.
He already has said he will race in this year's Tour de France to fulfill his contract with team sponsor Discovery Channel, so the rumor mill also has him lining up for next month's Giro d'Italia, the only Grand Tour he has not competed in.
Off the course, pedal pundits predict, he will say he is marrying constant companion Crow.
